After almost 24 years in a tiny storefront that only had a small kitchen, a small office and dining room seating for 18, in 2006 we were able to move into a new and improved space one block from our former home. With support from many generous donors we were able to renovate a new space that would allow us to expand our programs. We undertook the renovations as a “green build” project, utilizing environmentally responsible materials and energy-saving devices throughout. Our new space has dining room seating for more than 45 people, including significant space for our neighbors and clients to hang out during the day. The kitchen is more than double the size of our old one, and having five offices instead of one allows us to hire more support staff and offer the privacy necessary for constructive meetings. A separate conference room allows us to hold clinics and community meetings during meals. Since our move in 2006 we have:
